Are you a silver person? Gold person? White gold person? Rose gold person? Some people prefer a particular metal over others when it comes to their jewellery; my aunt, for example, wears nothing but gold.
I personally don’t have a metal of choice, although I do tend to wear more silver/white gold. It seems to suit my skin colour better. Having said that though, certain shades of gold also go well with my skin, but it also depends on the outfit I’m wearing and if the gold suits the overall style.
I find that silver is a bit more a “casual” metal; that is, it’s more suited to less formal outfits such as jeans and a tee. It can be dressy when it’s all blinged up, but to me a simple silver piece sits better with a more laidback ensemble. Gold, on the other hand, seems to have the effect of making a casual outfit more dressy – if I want a plain old jeans and tee outfit to really stand out I’ll wear a good old gold arm party, or have gold sequins on the tee. As I am doing this challenge and like to causally drop in the talk about weddings in general, a friend of mine recommended that I check out a guide to custom wedding rings. They are able to create bespoke jewellery the way you want it and it then becomes unique and personal. If this sounds like something of interest, take a look! I haven’t really tried rose gold out too much, but there is a beautiful Marc Jacobs watch in rose gold I’ve been eyeing off so that might be a start to a beautiful metallic relationship.
For Outfit 26 of my 13 going on 30 challenge I had a basic white tee which made the overall look quite casual, but I chose gold-toned accessories to make the outfit a little bit more polished. Had the accessories just been silver or none at all, the outfit would have been fairly non-committal. I like how the gold lifts it up to be something more “considered” 🙂
What metals do you prefer in your jewellery? Or are you more of a mixed metals kind of person? Let me know!
