I couldn’t wait to wear the black dungarees I mentioned in my previous post on my outfit inspirations for this newly acquired item of clothing. Today happened to be the perfect day for it, as it rained for most of the day – to the point that I think Noah is building another ark somewhere.
When I tried the dungarees on I have to admit I was having second thoughts – mainly because of the coated denim. Because of its shiny quality it doesn’t tend to be the most flattering fabric, so I took some pics on my phone and asked for second opinions. There was resounding support for purchasing it so I went ahead and bought it – the extra 30% off was especially appealing.
For today’s rainy day outfit I went with a basic striped tee and black loafers for a simple ensemble.
The coated denim aspect of the dungarees does give it a more mature feel compared to the ones I wore back when I was a pre-teen; I also think given its *cough* body-con tendencies perhaps it will give me some incentive to do a bit more exercise than I currently do (ie zero). It’s also quite easy to clean when it’s been smeared with food (thank you Master 1).
I still haven’t decided whether or not to hem it – while the actual length of these dungarees hits just below the ankle, I also do like a cropped ankle, depending on what shoes I’m wearing. Here I folded the hem under the achieve that cropped look.
Overall I think I’m pretty happy with this purchase for my winter capsule wardrobe. It will definitely get a fair bit of wear with this cold weather, and I think it could be easily dressed up because of the coated denim.
