I don’t know why I hadn’t started this earlier; it would make sense given that I don’t post all of my capsule wardrobe outfits on the blog (but I post pretty much all of them on Instagram), but only now have I realised how it would be good to do a quick review of all of them here too.
See my post here on this outfit. This was around the time I really started questioning the practicality of my capsule wardrobe items because it’s really starting to get a little chilly in Sydney now and I have ZERO sweaters in my autumn capsule.
I went with the denim and ankle boots theme as suggested by Sally Steele from Steele My Style (Instagram here) to try and combat the morning chill. I actually started the day out with the same striped blouse and my grey turtleneck from my autumn capsule but the day became progressively warmer so ditched the turtleneck. The outfit still needed that extra layer though so threw on the camel vest to give an extra element of interest to an otherwise basic outfit (aka the third piece).
See my post on how to DIY uneven raw hem jeans here. One of my easiest refashions to date – no sewing involved!
A quick scroll through my Instagram feed made me realised I had been wearing a lot of pants and jeans of late, so I went with the pleated skirt for work. I’m still a bit undecided about the length; even though I don’t care much for style rules (ie that skirts shouldn’t finish at the widest part of your calf), there are times that the length does seem a bit awkward. I’m still deciding whether to take it to the tailor to have it hemmed a little higher, say knee length. I’d love to be able to do it myself but I’m wouldn’t trust myself with all those pleats. I paired this outfit with my trusty white button down blouse (not seen), with my denim jacket for casual Friday and my blanket scarf (which doubled nicely as a pillow for a snooze on the bus to work).
Alas no photos of today’s outfit – when I got around to having time to take photos the lighting was pretty bad and the photos didn’t turn out so well. I might have to do a sneaky picture session on Monday morning to do a retrospective outfit post 🙂
I hope you liked this roundup! I’ll try and make this roundup post a weekly thing as a way of sharing my capsule wardrobe challenge outfits with you with a little more detail than what I can share on Instagram.
And for all the stylish mamas out there, Happy Mother’s Day! Hope you’re having or have had a wonderful day.
