Australia Day was last week and the fam and I had a little picnic in a beautiful little park tucked away in Sydney’s lower north shore. This was a pleasant reprieve after an hour of driving with a cranky two year old and a screaming 10 month old around Kirribilli, trying to find a parking space near what was probably the most popular picnic spot in the city that day.
I chose to wear Australian labels as my way to commemorate the day – the dress is by Metalicus, the shoes were old Witchery flats DIYed to become lace up flats, and the hat by Forever New. (Admittedly my bag is by an American designer but I didn’t have time to switch up bags in our usual mad rush to leave the house.) I cinched the waist of the dress in with a Portmans waist belt (not shown).
It did seem a bit sombre to wear black on Australia Day, but this particular dress is super comfy and nursing friendly – and when you’ve got limited time to get ready in the morning, a neutral black dress is such an easy choice (flattering AND only 1 item of clothing to think about!). I also love the detail on the top half of the dress – it gives the dress a bit more interest than just a plain black tank dress, and can double as a pretty tank when worn with a high waist knee length or maxi skirt.
Dress – Metalicus
Shoes – DIY lace up from Witchery flats
Hat – Forever New
