When Sally from Steele My Style (and the @spotmystyle Instagram account) suggested wearing my pink blouse (that I normally wear to work) under my black dungarees to wear them in three ways, I accepted the challenge.
I have worn these dungarees with stripes before, which I’ll count as my outfit #1. I love how a Breton-style striped lends a Parisian air to any outfit – when in doubt with a particular item of clothing, a striped coordinate will work 99% of the time, and overalls/dungarees are no exception.
Outfit #2 is as per Sally’s suggestion, my pink and purple printed button up shirt (a thrifted Witchery blouse) underneath the black dungarees. It was certainly an unexpected combo – as I mentioned above, I normally wear this blouse to work with a pencil skirt or trousers, but pairing it with the dungarees gave a nice pop of colour to the black as well as giving it a feminine touch.
Instagram Husband mentioned that the outfit reminded him of Super Mario (thanks hubby).
I wore Outfit #3 today, which was my Forever New lace blouse (I also blogged about it here) and grey Windsor Smith boots. It’s always fraught with danger, wearing this lace blouse with curious toddler plucking at the delicate fabric, but it doesn’t get as much wear as I would like. The lace blouse really called for more delicate shoes, like a nice pair of strappy heels, but my cocooned winter feet aren’t ready to be exposed just yet. I do like how the black dungarees and boots made the flirty, feminine blouse a little bit “street”.
This outfit was worn whilst grocery shopping, and I admit I was probably a bit dressed up for choosing bananas but why not.
