So today’s outfit is technically not from my capsule wardrobe.
I may have mentioned before that I am sometimes kindly given clothes as a gift for the writing work that I do. One of said gifts was this Next navy checked shirt dress, which I couldn’t wait to try out.
The dress is fairly similar to the Next shirt I wore in this post, but while I’m still up in the air about that shirt, I am really liking this dress. Like the shirt, it is in the same soft fabric, but the dress seems to fit better. Well, for a start, it’s a dress – the length is just right for me, whereas the shirt seemed a little long for my petite frame. It’s a relaxed fit, not too tight, and super comfy.
I also liked the versatility of this dress – it could be worn partially unbuttoned for a laidback look; buttoned all the way up for a preppier style; the sleeved folded for when it gets warmer (the dress has those little tabs and buttons to keep the folded sleeves in place). The dress could also be worn as a shirt with the tails tucked in, as it’s cut fairly high on the sides (well, high for me).
Aaah the smize.
I forgot to take photos of it (but did remember to ‘gram), in the morning I wore my Forever New cardigan (from my current winter capsule wardrobe) over this dress in the morning – the sun took a little while to warm the day.
These Shoe the Bear boots I’ve been umming and ahhing about – I actually hadn’t worn them much before I decided to include them in my winter capsule wardrobe, mainly because I didn’t think they suited me. They were bought while I was heavily pregnant with my first child, and you can imagine the fenagling I had to do to try them on with my swollen feet and bump. Regardless, I decided to buy them; they were quite expensive for what they were, but I think my pregnancy hormones were raging and I just wanted to buy something, anything, at the time. Ah impulse purchases.
I’m thinking this dress could indeed be included in my capsule wardrobe, whether it be my winter one or my spring one I haven’t decided yet.
