Another instalment of my work outfits in advance, and this time I think my flu bug has affected my mood and style.
The first colours I reached for were navy blue and black. I know there’s some rule out there about not wearing navy and black together, but bugger it. I think navy and black are a great combo. Not being in the best of health also meant that I wasn’t feeling particularly inclined towards drawing attention to myself, hence the choice of dark colours. However, I did think the combo needed something to break it all the darkness, so added the Gap white button up shirt with black polka dots.
I bought this Mango cable knit sweater in England a couple of years ago – I think it was based on a heady “I really need to buy something to remind me of being in this amazing country” decision rather than an actual need for a navy blue cable knit sweater – I think I have worn it a total of 5 times since I purchased it. I love love love the weight and knit, but for some reason I’m questioning the navy on me. I’d love to hear what you guys think of it.
The second day of work is more of an admin one so I thought I would whip out these printed pants, another one of my awesome Gorman items I bought from the markets. As it was the first time I had worn these pants, I went safe with the other items and added my trusty white button up blouse and Sheike black knit.
The boots in both outfits are by Shoe the Bear, a Danish shoe company which I only discovered 3 years ago. The shoes are super comfy, and more importantly, the height of the boot actually hits at a flattering spot for a little ol’ shorty like me (ie just above my ankle, at the skinniest point of my leg). Other ankle boots (typically darker coloured ones like black) tend to be a little higher on the leg, usually at the point where my calf is the widest – understandably so, to accommodate the longer-legged gazelles out there. However, these cut my legs off at an unflattering spot, making them look shorter and wider than usual.
The weather is still nasty here in Sydney, so I wasn’t really sure what to do with my hair flying around. It also explains why I went with the pants-and-layers combo for both outfits.
Wearing: David Lawrence white shirt (similar) | Sheike black knit | Gorman printed pants | boots as before
