Some easy ways to fix common kitchen appliance problems that you could do yourself or without having to spend too much!
All of the appliances found in many common kitchens have their own job that’s important when it comes to the overall running of your household. After all, if you didn’t have a washing machine, how on earth would you get through all your family’s laundry? And if your stove were to stop working, you might have to survive on cold meals – which would not be much fun for fussy eaters!
Thankfully, many of the common problems and faults that happen to most kitchen appliances are quite easy to fix yourself, and it’s really worth knowing what to do if anything does go wrong. That way, you won’t have to spend too much money on hiring a handyman to help you out. Plus, you won’t have to wait for them to come out to you – you’ll be able to do the job yourself.
Here are some of the easiest fixes to the common kitchen appliance faults.
Refrigerator Not Cooling
If your refrigerator isn’t as cool as it should be, you might just need to clean the coils. These coils are what the cold water goes through in order to cool down the fridge’s cavity and you’ll find them if you open the grill at the bottom. It can be easy for hairs and dust to cover the coils, which will result in them overheating. Simply cleaning them off should instantly solve the problem.
Electric Stovetop Not Working
If your electric stovetop won’t heat up once you switch it on, it’s a sign that there is an issue with the electrics. It’s a good idea to get an electrician to sort this out for you if you don’t want to mess around with the cables. If the issue is with the electric prongs, though, you just need to unplug the stovetop and remove the burner. You’ll notice two prongs, which you just need to push closer together for a tighter connection.
Gas Stove Won’t Light
Usually, the main reason why a gas stove won’t light is because it is covered in dirt and debris. So, if anything ever boils over while you’re cooking it, you should remember to clean it up straight away so that it doesn’t end up blocking the stove. Don’t worry if you do forget and your stove does stop lighting. You’ll just need to give the burner a good clean to get all the grime off and unblock the holes.
Dishwasher Not Cleaning
Have you ever wondered who cleans your dishwasher? Who cleans the cleaner?! Well, you have to! If you don’t keep up with dishwasher maintenance, then it will become less efficient and your pots and pans might not come out of it clean anymore. To quickly improve things, you should pour one cup of white vinegar into the appliance and turn it on for one wash without anything in it. There should be other cleaning instructions in the user manual.
Above are just some easy ways to help maintain the appliances in your kitchen and keep them in good working order! What other tips do you have to easily fix your kitchen appliances?
