I said this about the first week of my autumn capsule, but I’ll say it again for my winter capsule: I’m excited about it.
Maybe it’s because I have a lot of fresh clothes at my arsenal for the next three months (I’ve made a lot of updates in the lead up to the winter capsule); but I also generally just love dressing for winter. Layering, snuggly knits, jeans for days, ankle boots… It’s my favourite time of the year in terms of what I like to wear.
Here’s my round up of the week that was:
One of the go-to items for when I’m just pottering around at home is this navy blue puffer vest from Cotton On – it adds a great warm layer to whatever I’m wearing. Not the sexiest item I know, but I’ve got a dedicated Pinterest board on how to wear the puffer vest in a stylish way. Mr 1 also has a puffer vest and I thought it would be a cute pic to put his and mine side by side, with our white kicks. (Mine are Saint Laurent knock offs from Topshop; his are Adidas Superstars which I scored from the markets for $8.)

I was pleasantly surprised to wake up with an email from Makeful letting me know that I had been nominated for their weekly theme! The theme for the week that I was nominated for was Girls Night In, and was I humbled to be listed alongside some clever, crafty ladies and their fantastic projects.
One of my favourite dresses ever – it was from a shop called Barkins, which was near where I used to work in the Sydney CBD. I haven’t been in that part of town for a looooong time so I’m not sure if the store even exists anymore. I love the nipped in waist, the fact that it has pockets, the modest neckline and the digital print – all perfect for a day in the office! I paired it with Voodoo Hosiery opaque tights and the Sportsgirl loafers.
Thursday was a day to be in sweats as I wasn’t feeling the best, but what did make me feel better was the delivery of this gorgeous lace top from Bardot. The first time I had seen it was on the Instagram accounts of @therawedit and @forglamsake; seeing it at a 3rd birthday party on the subsequent weekend sealed the deal so I decided to get it. This makes item number 47 on my capsule wardrobe so far, but I’m pretty happy with including it. For the above photo I paired with the leather jacket I bought from eBay, plus my hand-me-down Longchamp Le Pliage bag (thanks Mum!).
This was the first time I wore the thrifted white blazer (Max Mara) and the new-to-me polka dot pants (Gorman), and I have to say I am LOVING the combo. The white blazer really makes the rest of the outfit pop, and the polka dots are just too darn cute. I wore my Sheike black knit top (bought last year) underneath the blazer, and those Sportsgirl loafers that are quickly becoming favourites. The one thing about the blazer… it isn’t fully lined, just across the top of the shoulders, and it was a particularly windy day that day, so I was actually kinda cold in this ensemble. Thank goodness for the chunky knit scarf (current Princess Highway, available from Dangerfield).
Saturday was a shocker with rain and wind giving me a delightful reminder that winter was definitely coming. It was a day to take out the chunky knit jumper from Gap, with waxed denim jeans from ABrand and a very old scarf from Sportsgirl. The sneakers I bought from a Korean store in Sydney’s Chinatown, which are knock offs of the popular Golden Goose Deluxe brand shoes.
Another sneaky addition I’ve been thinking about for my winter capsule wardrobe is a pair of black denim dungarees. I first saw them on @mummaaintmumsy’s Instagram account and I loved how they looked a little bit more grown up than the pair that my daughter owns. I think it’s the fact that they’re in black denim. Anyway, they’re on my hit list, and while I still need to research them in more detail (ie check out the shops and try it on), I think I’m close to getting them. (The pic was sourced from here.)
I hope you’ve all had a lovely week and weekend – make sure you’re following me on Instagram to check out the outfit posts that I don’t get to post about on the blog, as well as other randomness from my life!
