#MyStyle: Capsule Wardrobe Outfit 1.20 – Florals and Culottes

Autumn has well and truly arrived in Sydney, and I have to say I’m enjoying the reprieve from the humidity.

The only thing is that I am slowly realising that I don’t think I have enough appropriate clothing in my capsule wardrobe to accommodate this cool change. What I do have is this floral top from Oasis, which has a lovely Oriental-esque floral print along the shoulders. One of the prompts for the #marchwearwhatwhere Instagram style challenge was floral, and this is one of the only items in my wardrobe (capsule or otherwise) that has a floral print. I have mentioned before that my personal style tends to veer towards being a little tomboyish, so it’s nice to have this piece to subtly femme up an otherwise masculine-styled outfit.

I bought this top while I was in England with hubster 2 years ago, and although I had pretty much gone through my spending money by the time I spied this in the shop, it was just too pretty to leave behind. It was worth the extra expenditure and hit on the credit card, as this top feels lovely on and I always get compliments whenever I wear it.

I’ve written about these culottes before and I’ve worn them with my flat pointy toe Witchery flats from my autumn capsule, but they just look so much better with a heel. This poses a conundrum as these Novo lace up booties are the only pair of heels I have in my current capsule wardrobe, unless I dip into my “special occasion” shoes. So if you see me wearing these culottes, more often then not I’ll be wearing these booties, and because I don’t wear heels very often, these culottes may not be worn as much as I would have wanted to. It’s all part of the learning process for my capsule wardrobe challenge.

Can I also mention how excited I am that my hair is now long enough to pin back?! (It may not look like it in the photos, but after 9 long months of growing out my pixie cut I’m excited, I assure you.)
