#MyStyle: Capsule Wardrobe Outfit: Mother’s Day Style

For all the stylish mamas out there, a belated Happy Mother’s Day. I hope you had a beautiful day with your loved ones and that you were spoiled silly!

I spent the morning of Mother’s Day doing some serious bargain hunting with my own mum at Kirribilli Markets (Mum had seen a vintage Louis Vuitton bag there months ago and lives in the vague hope that the stallholder still has it for sale). I love these markets, the stallholders there are very social and friendly and there are some great bargains to be had. Alas, nothing for me, and Mum didn’t find that elusive Louis Vuitton bag either.

The afternoon was spent with my little family having pizza and ice cream together (Miss 3’s idea). Having a nice dinner at a restaurant certainly takes on a new meaning when you have little ones – for me, a successful meal out means not having half of Mr 1’s food under his highchair, and Miss 3 not having a meltdown because she’s tired and cranky by that time of the day. Neither happened (Mr 5 foot 11 had the foresight to book an early slot) so we were in and out of the restaurant without too much drama.

For Mother’s Day, I went with the white skirt from my autumn capsule; this was certainly asking for trouble, but thankfully the skirt didn’t get stained.

I was inspired by one of the outfits by blogger Merrick’s Art from her Instagram account:

Whenever you’re in doubt about how to style a particular item of clothing, the chambray shirt is always a winner. It is a real workhorse piece because it goes with pretty much 99% of all the other items in your wardrobe, and can be styled up or down depending on the occasion.

I don’t have pointy nude heels like Merrick so I went with my lace up heels from Novo. I have to say that I am really loving this shoe – so comfortable and the lace up detail really gives it a bit of an edgy attitude.

Around the strap of my bag (bought a couple of years ago from Oasis in the UK) I tied a vintage silk scarf which I thrifted at our local charity store.

As hard as being a mum is (the day after Mother’s Day was one of those days having me question my sanity), I wouldn’t change it for the world. Kudos to all the hard working mums out there!

  1. This outfit is so cute and the pop of red on the scarf makes it perfect for a subtle take on the 4th of July. =) You look great!
