Capsule Wardrobe, Outfits and Style

This week’s Instagram Roundup

I know I’ve forgotten to do these kind of posts over the last couple of weeks – deadlines at work and having two little ones makes life a little crazy – but I promise I’ll try to do this on a regular basis!

When I can’t blog due to the madness of my life, I try to post on Instagram, so please be sure to follow me there for other outfits that I can’t blog about here.

Another variation of the black and denim combination that I wore on Monday, as well as another one of my DIY projects. This Witchery black top is a nice alternative to button up tops for work, the only thing is that the V-neck is a little deeper than I had initially thought when I first bought the top last year – not a problem when I’m wearing it outside of work, but while at the office I do feel a little self conscious. Here I’m wearing it with my DIY raw uneven hem jeans with Sportsgirl shoes – a simple outfit for a day of running errands. (All items from my winter capsule wardrobe.)

Another attempt at wearing the black denim dungarees (here’s another way I wore them); this time with the Next window pane print shirt and Tory Burch flats (again, all items from my winter capsule wardrobe). I’m still a little undecided about this shirt (read about why here) – but I do like the simple combination of black and white for these dungarees.

Hubby took Friday afternoon off so we could check out the Bjork exhibition at Vivid Sydney – as it involved elements of virtual reality we needed to book in advance – of course, being completely disorganised we totally forgot, and every weekend slot was full. We decided to try our luck on Friday afternoon, and were quite lucky that there were a few dropouts so we could squeeze in. Bjork is one of my husband’s favourite musical artists (I’m a fan as well, probably not as much as he is though) – and the exhibition included 360 degree filming of some of her music videos (one of which was filmed in her mouth), which could then be viewed through those VR lenses. While I didn’t think much of the VR experience itself, Bjork’s videos have always been works of art, and I loved the songs that were featured. For our date afternoon I wore the leather jacket I bought off ebay with a Comme Des Garcon striped shirt, high waisted dark denim jeans and Sportsgirl loafers.

I have never pushed frou frou, pink and frills on my daughter, yet she has somehow gravitated towards all those girly trims. Although she has plenty of clothes that people have given as gifts, she only wears what she chooses and what she likes. One Saturday while roaming around Rozelle Markets with her I spied these awesome sparkly pants which Miss 3 highly approved. She also needed some new shoes as her feet grow so quickly, and of course selected these gold Western-style boots despite my attempts to convince her that a pair of sneakers would be more practical. The sparkly pants and gold boots ensemble was her outfit selection after swimming lessons – I just love her confidence in putting these two statement pieces together. I hope she continues to be this confident as a future stylista.
